Emily Lonigro Boylan, Owner and Creative Director

A leader with the ability to combine strategic marketing, branding expertise and smart design, Emily is a practical idealist with a vision. In January of 2004, she founded LimeRed Studio with a plan to prioritize high-quality design, usability and meaningful social impact over gratuitous flashiness and fads.

With a record of successfully translating goals, content, and audiences into beautiful, user-friendly, effective design, Emily is proud to walk the talk. She’s played the roles of agency, in-house and contract designer and so brings a depth of experience. She is also a dedicated, high-integrity leader with some serious planning and management chops. She loves to share what she knows and often presents at conferences, participates in panel discussions and leads instructional workshops for nonprofit organizations.

Emily's portfolio spans design, marketing and planning experiences in both online and offline programs for multinational corporations, nonprofits, universities, boutique businesses and prestigious consumer brands. Today, LimeRed’s primary focus is serving nonprofit and educational organizations to do work that makes people’s lives better. In 2010, She also co-founded The Web Farm, a web site optimization, measurement and marketing strategy firm. Emily earned her B.A. in journalism and mass communication from Drake University.

Outside of LimeRed Studio, Emily fully immerses herself in extracurriculars and pet projects, like gardening, knitting and baking pies. She lives in Chicago with her husband Dan Boylan, daughter Ginger, and their kitties Jesse and Tom Jones.

Kristi-Lynn Jacovino, UX Architect

Despite her late-in-life realization that "designer" was a real job title, Kristi-Lynn brings a vibrant yet Jedi-like focus and energy to every assignment she undertakes. She’s a quick study with a knack for reading between the lines, and her desire to learn new things can border on maniacal, but that’s the gift that comes with the package of Kristi-Lynn. That is, a bright, hip and simultaneously intellectual design professional who listens closely, works with heart and expert craft, and pushes the envelope at every turn.

Kristi-Lynn earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication Design from the University of Connecticut. Well-versed in design, we also consider her our resident expert on new technology, new apps, and innovations in typography. Prior to joining LimeRed Studio, Kristi-Lynn served a variety of clients with needs ranging from web design and development to 3-D modeling and motion design. She also spent some time working for Apple and is light years ahead of the rest of us when it comes to new products.

When she’s not at LimeRed Studio, Kristi-Lynn likes to cruise the streets of Chicago on her sangria-red 8-speed and is always on the lookout for great eats sans-chicken. She’s got a newly-developed love affair going with her iPad and regularly trolls the web for the latest and greatest apps. Ever the designer, she also manages to find time to obsess over paint colors for her apartment.

Current favorite apps: Zite and Wunderlist for iPad

Brett Casey, Art Director

Since he was very young, Brett has been consumed with all things design. Most of his teen years were spent in front of a computer figuring out how the internet works and how he could make it prettier. He spent most of his early job years in customer service and retail which honed sharp skills allowing him to anticipate the needs and wants of clients. Brett is a natural communicator and that, combined with his innate talent for design, makes him unstoppable.

After a couple of maybe-not-so-successful attempts at interior design college he decided to become a graphic designer. Brett spent the next four years taking on any project, client, or task — no matter how big or small to get ahead in design. The portfolio he posted at the end of college was so great, he was hired by a television marketing company the day after he posted it.

He spent the past four years at that company managing projects and providing art direction for a design staff of 10 and a marketing team of 7 while completing hundreds of projects for print, web, and television. He has worked with dozens of brands and even helped to create a few. He is energetic and passionate about design and is obsessed with the details that make things great. He loves helping to shape the world we live in and believes that people need good design and usability.

When not at LimeRed Studio, Brett is usually shopping for home things as he spends a lot of time redesigning each apartment he moves into, and will spend days trying to find one perfect item. If there's any free time left he's probably spending it either singing karaoke somewhere or walking around the city with his partner Harold and their dogs, Chase and Madison.

Current favorite apps: Belly and Path

Robert Royce-Malmgren, Lead Developer

Coming of age at the same time as the internet, Rob survived the browser wars of the late ’90s. Coming down on the side of Zeldman and web standards, Rob focuses on creating semantic web sites that follow the latest best practices and web standards. He is excited to give back to the community that helped him build his skill set.

Incorporating his education in art and philosophy, he considers the creative aspects of those disciplines to be base knowledge to jump into development. he thinkgs that the kinds of logic used by many notable philosophers are some the best primers for learning to code.

Rob brings a wide range of experience to LimeRed to help nonprofits keep up with the ever-changing landscape of web technologies. With a naturally curious mind and a tenacious work ethic, he comes to the team with experience as a one-man web department, deep knowledge and an ability to help come up with a solution to almost any problem that LimeRed is presented with.

Outside of development, he has a love for delicious food and enjoys exploring Chicago for new restaurants. He will do most anything (outrageous or mundane) for a good cause, most recently taking part in the 2013 Chicago Polar Plunge to help raise funds for the Special Olympics.
