Case Study
Parenting Perspectives had a workable site when they came to us. It's wasn't very pretty, but it mostly got the job done. However, they knew that in order to attract more and better clients they needed to refine their image and redesign the site. We took them through a process to define goals, organize content, and push their brand to the next level. We wanted to give them a refined image that would last and make a positive impression.
Process
During Discovery, we considered how other parent-focused learning groups presented their content. We also examined current trends in baby to teen design and decor to get ideas on what is relevant with their audience. We took a survery of the existing site and it's problems and successes and determined what the focus of the new site should be. One of the great ideas that came out of this was including success stories from real parents as a main feature.
During the planning phase, we outlined serveral possibilities for organizing the site content, depending on Parenting Perspective's plans for future expansion. Since the Store was an area they wanted to focus on, we made sue that was prominently placed.
During design, we combined the organizational structure determined in the Planning phase with the design research in our Discovery & Research phase. We ended up with three solid design directions and chose one. In this stage, we also wireframed all of the pages and began finalizing content. There was a ton of great content, and we helped edit it all.
During Development and Testing, we build all of the templates — I think we ended up with 4 more than we anticipated — and incorporated their existing Wordpress blog into the site. We rarely recommend separating a blog and it's parent site—regularly-updated blogs are a great traffic generator and utlimately we want the traffic to explore classes and the store.
Lauren and Karen were wonderful clients and they've learned how to edit their own site through our training process. We're delighted to see them expanding workshops and adding items to their store!
